19 July 1997 - Message from the Sheepish Author of this Page

All I can say is 'Lawks!' I've been contacted by a few people and even joined the Heyer list since putting these sketches of mine up on the Net on the 13th July. I don't know.... when I wrote these things they were pretty personal, for my own entertainment and sense of closure after the books and I often cringe myself as I realise the glaring mistakes I've made and the 'crime' of playing around with the perfect.

For my own part, DC and TC were my favourite books and I really loved the characters and thought they were delightful and must apologise to anyone who is offended by what I've written and think that I've done either the authors or the characters themselves a disservice. It's no defence, but these pages were never really intended to be read by more than a handful of people at most - so I thought, 'hell it's my imagination, I can stick them in the same time frame if I want to'. The lack of an e-mail address or any linkage were deliberate and I am going to have to say that Heyer fans seem possessed of positively daunting skills of detection to have tracked me down in the first place. =) Thanks for your persistance - your e-mails were lovely.

You might want to know why I put them online at all. I don't know about you, but I have a real problem 'finishing' my sketches. Sitting on my hard-drive they boggled at me buggily and remained unfinished. I was hoping that prettying them up and putting them in this new format might inspire me further. =) It has in a way. In a way it's daunted me and made me wince a little.

The 'Online Heyer.com' was a private joke of mine at the time when I was reading a lot of pages where they were saying 'The Offfically Unofficial Site' and it seemed as if everyone needed a snazzy title to be anyone. I am not a writer, it's not my field of expertise. A few people have asked me if there are any more. I had started a story talking about what happens to the Honourable Cedric Brandon while he's away at the wars because I've always thought his character was so adorable. This story didn't contain any sex scenes sizzling or otherwise because it just didn't come into the plot, but it contained even more areas where my lack of detailed knowledge about the wars and the regency became glaringly obviously. Thus Cedric's story as well as these ones are going back to the Hard Drive. =)

Anyway, I have to thankyou all for your kind notes. I'm glad you had fun for the 6 days the page was here. I look forward to a happy life of lurking on the Heyer-list. =)

Cheers.
