Koala: it's weird how the PRC ending has Andy Lau being arrested. they made SUCH a big deal about it. very political
Koala: do you think Shawn Yu or Edison is better looking?
Koala: Edison had kind of reddish hair

Pocket: Shawn Yu isn't bad looking though. but it's funny how as he gets older his chin gets smaller;)
Koala: well I love Tony Leung
Pocket: and Edison must have had an outbreak in acne in that ten years;)
Koala: they should have got a better actor to be the young Tony Leung
Koala: ha. Poor old andy
Pocket: he produced it though didn't he
Koala: No that was andrew lau. Not the same ;)
Koala: There are about one million Andys in HK. Lots of Kens as well and Stanleys. ;)
Pocket: ahh
Koala: I like the ending how they superimpose Andy Lau in the police line. Cliched I know but it worked Seguing back and forth between past and present
Pocket: nod. It is a good movie
Koala: Brad pitt. Yuck
Pocket: Brad Pitt?
Koala: He and Jennifer Aniston have bought the American rights. They're remaking it. I sent you an email about it. It's like how sassy girl is going to be a yankee film too
Pocket: I thought they rushed it a lil bit with the explanation on B being Lau’s shadow
Pocket: Like "sam didn't like me but i'll be there etc etc"
Koala: I was in shock when Tony Leung got shot. I didn't expect it!!!!
Koala: And then I thought Andy Lau would be shot in the lift too!
Koala: he comes out looking sooooo evil
Pocket: yeah I thought he was gonna shoot himself
Pocket: see i'm not convinced lau wanted to be a good guy. He just had it so good and he was cleaning up the past
Koala: that was quite a good scene when sammy is in the police station eating food. He has a kind of funny face
Pocket: Yeah. Ge reminds me of tony
Koala: I've seen him in honky comedies so I didn't expect that he could be evil but he did it scarily well - when he says something like - you gonna die
Koala: and I'm like erggghhh he's gonna die
Pocket: then there's the 'comic relief' in the guy who goes "u can always tell who's a cop"
Koala: yeah but he died too.
Pocket: yup
Koala: did he guess? or was he genuinely think Tony Leung was at the masseuse
Pocket: yeah he genuinely did I think. he wasn't too bright
Koala: true apparently his name when translated means stupid
Pocket: the scary bit is when the superintendent tries to get away and NEARLY does
Koala: oh that was awful
Pocket: but then the hand stops the elevator
Koala: when he crashes onto the car I'm like arggghhhh
Pocket: yeah
Koala: almost die a Star Warsian NOOOOOOOO
Pocket: and they made a big deal out of the fact he was the ONLY guy left who new Tony Leung's id cos of that funeral before hand
Koala: yeah I didn't twig onto that. I was not too bright
Pocket: Apparently that guy is the chinese anthony hopkins
Koala: Haha
Koala: we were all going what the hell was the psychiatrist. was she just eye candy
Pocket: she was in tokyo raiders
Koala: yeah
Pocket: had abit more of a role in that but looked the same
Koala: she's a sap
Pocket: same pouty face
Koala: pisses me off
Koala: very slappable face - kind of evil eyes
Pocket: or more the explanation of his gf from yrs back with the daughter. they sorta rushed a few of the 'explanations' but on the whole the movie was very good
Koala: but they were good with the mirroring sessions though
Koala: eg when leung was leaking to cops and the same time, Lau was leaking to triad
Pocket: yeah that was a great scene
Koala: and both orgs had a mole etc etc I felt so sorry for Tony Leung - I just wanted to cuddle him
Pocket: getting his cast smashed
Koala: yeah!
Pocket: he looked soo sad!
Pocket: like "my cast!"
Koala: he has puppy dog eyes.
Koala: heh heh
Koala: well no
Koala: he was probably thinking
Koala: OUCH
Pocket: yeah that too
Koala: heh heh
Pocket: the rooftop scene was very stylised. Hong Kong movies are always ripped off though
Koala: true, but still enjoyable. This one still felt fresh even though it was reminiscent of other movies. if you know what I mean.
Pocket: yeah I agree
Koala: I mean don't you think it was a much more stylish version of Hard Boiled? Which even had Tony Leung in it!
Pocket: mm... I dunno. I didn't really get into hard boiled. I'll watch it again and see
Koala: well he was undercover gangster in that too
Pocket: the mole in the force was well done though. that was cool how they were infiltrated at an early age
Koala: was I right that he sent an SMS to like all phones?
Pocket: yup. he sent to all GSM
Koala: well they make it seem like Andy Lau wanted to be a real cop although, all of his successes weren't real - they were due to the triad giving him info on rival gangs
Pocket: and his gf's story.. I thought that was a lil annoying too
Koala: so he was a big fat fraud
Pocket: yeah
Pocket: that's what I mean
Pocket: he was an opportunist. not necessarily a good guy
Koala: edison looked good in the uniform though :)
Pocket: so when he wanted to turn over a new leaf i'm not convinced it was cos he was all "geez I wanna be a good cop"
Koala: did you see the scene when edison 'busts' shawn?
Pocket: yeah
Pocket: he got the good life
Koala: yeah, I didn't like him
Koala: I never trusted him! and when he deleted Tony Leung's records
Koala: I was going YOU BASTARD!!!
Pocket: whereas Tony Leung's life was shit. he got to get beaten up from both sides, and snort coke
Koala: this is true.
Koala: and his mentors both got killed.
Pocket: and in the end he didn't get back his life
Koala: he was genuinely sad when they both died. I thought he was going to cry
Pocket: which would still be sorta shit though
Pocket: cos noone would know who he was
Koala: when both mentors died. when he's in the alleyway and kinda salutes
Pocket: he was the more tragic character
Koala: and worse for him, he had to have bad hair
Pocket: yah
Koala: I mean. gangsters should have cool hair
Pocket: they all wear black though
Pocket: Except sam at times
Koala: Andy Lau was wearing fancy suits wasn't he?
Pocket: They all drove lexus' too
Pocket: Makes me wanna get a lexus again
Koala: what - so superintendents can fall on top of it?
Pocket: No he landed on a cab
Koala: oh

Pocket: and lots of Sony vaio laptops
Pocket: and Motorola phones

Pocket: It's interesting when andy discovers superintendent is using morse code

Koala: although when after the superintendent dies and Andy Lau starts tapping on the phone
Pocket: well no one in the movie had two guns
Koala: I was going - gah no Tony don't answer the phone!!!!He's a bad guy!
Pocket: yeah but they still got together and busted sam
Koala: yes but who did that benefit the most? Lau
Pocket: Tony Leung got the arse end really
Koala: but in HK he got the acting kudos :)
Pocket: true
Koala: I've liked him ever since chungking express
Pocket: thinking of an american remake
Koala: who will they be?
Pocket: about what they will do with it
Koala: they'll give Jennifer Aniston an expanded role
Koala: maybe a gun :P
Pocket: just cos they bought it doesn't mean they're in it?
Koala: no they've said they want to be in it apparently
Pocket: hmm, well the chicks get shit roles anyway. Brad Pitt will be Tony Leung's character then

Pocket: Depends what sorta gang it was

Koala: the superintendent, I'm thinking. I mean there are some actors who always play the older policeman mentor role. I just can't think right now.
Pocket: Hey it coulda been worse. this could have been a black ghetto gang movie with omar epps and ll cool j or something
